| Want to know what's going to
happen this year with the NBA's Atlantic Division? Read this
intersting predictions article. How about the Eastern
Conference?
The New Jersey Nets are the favorites to take the NBA’s
weakest division and will likely be the only playoff team
from the Atlantic. Everyone else will be playing for second
place. Let’s take a look at how the NBA Atlantic Division
will shape up.
New Jersey Nets: The Nets are a unanimous favorite to take
the Atlantic Division in the upcoming season not because they
are that good, but because the rest of the division is weaker
than Diet Coke. The Nets have the game’s best duo running
the floor on the wings in Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson,
and Kidd is still good enough to deliver them the ball in
scoring positions. New Jersey has no real shot at a Finals
run however, as they have no interior game to speak of and
streaky outside shooting.
Boston Celtics: I’m looking at the Celtics or the Sixers
to fight over the number two spot in the Atlantic, but it
won’t matter who gets it as neither team will likely
make the playoffs. I think that Boston gets the second place
finish in the end because of Al Jefferson’s ability
to score in the post. Paul Pierce will continue to do what
ever it takes each night to put his team in a position to
win and Wally Szczerbiak will be more consistent starting
the season with the Celtics. Don’t forget about little
Sebastian Telfair moving back close to home. I like him to
have a break out season and be a big difference maker for
a team that has been searching for a true point guard for
years.
Philadelphia 76ers: Allen Iverson will get 30 points every
night putting this team on his back just as he has for his
entire career. If Andre Iguodala is ready to be Allen Iverson’s
Scottie Pippen, the Sixers could surpass expectations this
season. Dalembert’s defense on the interior will be
more important than Webber’s offense and I like the
sharp shooter Korver stretching the “D“. This
team will start off slow as they play 25 of their first 39
on the road, but look for them to round into shape.
Toronto Raptors: I like the Raptors young talent led by Chris
Bosh, but this team will need time to jell before challenging
for the Atlantic Division crown. T.J. Ford will give them
a solid one-man and Mo Peterson gives the Raptors as good
a three-point shooting swing man as you’ll find in the
league. Anthony Parker, not to be confused with San Antonio’s
Tony Parker, has been the Euroleague MVP the past two seasons
but he will still have to earn his NBA stripes. The Raptors
improve on their 27 wins last season, but they stay in the
basement in the East.
New York Knick: The Knicks make changes, but not the right
ones. How many different guard combinations will they try
before they realize that the problem lies in the interior?
When the Knicks were one of the top teams in the East for
a decade, they played around Patrick Ewing. There aren’t
enough shots to go around for Marbury, Crawford, and Francis
and Eddy Curry won’t be the dominant force the Knicks
were hoping for. I hope Larry Brown at least chuckles when
Isaiah fails with this group.
