| Washington Wizards
Finally, this off-season glance looks at the Washington Wizards.
The Wizards lost a close series to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the
playoffs, despite Gilbert Arenas high scoring offensive attack.
The Wizards, however, made the playoffs for the second straight
season, and seem to be working on their third playoff appearance.
Nothing much has happened this off-season for the Wizards. They
started the off-season off drafting Euro center Oleksiy Pecherov,
a seven foot center that has outstanding outside shooting, at pick
number eighteen. Then, at pick number forty-eight, the Wizards selected
yet another foreign player, Vladimir Veremeenko. After the draft,
the Wizards quickly signed forward Darius Songaila, taking him away
from Chicago. And with only restricted free agents Jared Jeffries,
and Awvee Storey to worry about, things are ok. Rumors began that
the Wizards were one of the few teams that were looking to trade
for Milwaukee center Jamaal Magloire. They have yet to trade for
him yet, but so has every other team. According to rumors, it would
send either Jared Jeffries or Etan Thomas for Magloire. Keep an
eye out for that. Even with minor additions in the off-season, the
Wizards will once again make the playoffs.
