Indiana Pacer Information

The Indiana Pacers were able to get themselves into the playoffs this past off-season despite the Ron Artest debacle that went on for over a month. The Pacers troubles began when they were looking for a suitor to take on the on-court 'manaic' as he is known since the brawl that occurred in Motown.

The Pacers found themselves dealing Artest to the Kings as they received in return the Serbian shooter, Peja S. On the Pacers Peja averaged 19.5 points a game and along with Jermaine O'Neal carried them to the 6th seed in the playoffs. Both Rick Carlisle and Kevin O'Neill were pleased with the performance displayed by Peja and compared him to former long-time Pacer Reggie Miller.

The Pacers post-season came to halt to in a late loss to the Nets where Anthony Johnson was called for foul as he fouled Vince Carter on the shorts going to the basket. However, the real loss was that Peja had announced that he would opt out of his contract that made him eligible to receive up to 8.2 million dollars.

.

In the off-season Peja followed suit and opted out of his contract and it was only a few days later where the Hornets offered him a four year deal. The Pacers were ready to fill in his shoes on draft night as they went after Memphis forward Shawne Williams. Shawne Williams is known to be a perimeter shooter but he was also an under-rated defender in college.

The Pacers also drafted the first player in the second round as they picked up the very athletic guard from Cincinnati, formerly played in Florida, James White. His sheer athleticism can wow any NBA fan as he showed in high school in the McDonald's All-American dunk contest against Knick forward David Lee. James White has all the potential in the world and can impact an NBA game with his speed and mobility. He may even challenge current Pacer guard, who is also eligible for free agency, Fred Jones.

O'Neal slams it down hard in a 2006 Regualr Season game.
With a new season ahead of them and a healthy roster the Pacers have big plans for 2007.
